Afghanistan – Overview


One of Pakistan’s top export partners, Afghanistan shares many trade, cultural and political ties with Pakistan. Afghanistan’s total bilateral trade in 2013 was $7 billion while bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan was $2.3 billion. Afghanistan’s top exports to the world in 2013 were fruits & nuts and cotton and top imports were vehicles and electronic equipment. Its economy is mostly import driven with trade (exports + imports of goods and services) as percentage of GDP at 53% and exports of goods and services as a percentage of GDP at 6%.
