Dr. Zeelaf B. Munir joined EBM, family-owned and managed business, in 2010 as the Chairperson Executive Management Board and was appointed the Managing Director and CEO in 2015.
EBM is the largest biscuit manufacturers in Pakistan with the widest range of brands and is also one of the largest FMCG companies in Pakistan. Its products are marketed both in Pakistan and exported all over the world.
Building upon its strong foundation of over four decades and its market leadership, EBM and its megabrands continue to grow under Zeelaf’s leadership. The company has further enhanced its market share and has achieved record growth in sales and profitability. In 2015, EBM received the Best Place to Work award in FMCG and national companies’ category. Zeelaf continues to innovate at EBM, channelling her many years of administrative and leadership expertise and peoples’ skills into setting exciting new directions for the company and its popular brands, well-poised to achieve its vision 2020.
Zeelaf has over twenty years of professional experience in diverse fields from healthcare to business. Her career, which extends from clinical practice to leading multi-state organizations to serving on the Board of a global supply chain company, is much like the woman herself; enterprising, dynamic and purposeful. She has made her mark wherever she has been, challenging the status quo and leading change, due to her visionary leadership, entrepreneurship and management expertise.
Zeelaf is a coveted speaker and has been a frequent invitee at conferences and in the electronic media, both in the US and in Pakistan. She has actively worked with think-tanks and governmental and non-governmental agencies in both countries for bilateral US-Pakistan relationship and the Pakistani diaspora. She has been elected and served as President of APPNA (Association of Pakistani Physicians in North America), the largest Pakistani association outside Pakistan. She was also a founding member of the American Pakistani Foundation. She has led the Delaware Psychiatric Society as President, and is an active member of the Asia Society, the Acumen Fund and various other NGOs. She is currently a member of the Pakistan Business Council. She is also a Board Member of the Community Development Program, Planning and Development Department, Government of Sindh and the iCare Foundation.
Zeelaf completed her medical degree from Dow Medical University, Karachi. She moved to the United States in mid-nineties, pursuing a specialization in psychiatry from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Zeelaf also received a Master’s degree majoring in Health Finance & Management from Johns Hopkins University, and completed multiple management courses including at Harvard Business School.
