Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood

Managing Director of Lawrencepur Woolen Mills in 1968, and then in 1973 assumed responsibility as Managing Director of Dawood Hercules Chemicals Limited.


Graduated in Engineering from Newcastle University, UK, Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood obtained his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Columbia University, NYC, USA in 1968.

At present, Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood is the Chairman of Descon, which is involved in Engineering & Construction, Chemicals and Power. Descon Engineering is a Pakistani Multinational Company operating in 5 countries, holding 5 overseas manufacturing units and employing more than 14,000 workers (50% of whom are based overseas). Descon’s employees make up a wide diversity, comprising of 20 nationalities working in Pakistan and abroad.

Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood is a former Minister of Commerce, Industries and Production, Government of Pakistan and former Director of the State Bank of Pakistan. Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood has been involved in Education for many years. From 1975 to 1984, he was a visiting faculty at the Department of Business Administration of the University of Punjab. He has been involved with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) from its inception and has been its Rector since 1986. He is also involved in Nalam College, being set up in Mianwali.

He became the trustee of Shaukat Khanam Memorial Hospital at its inception and remained with the hospital for 10 years.

Mr. Abdul Razak Dawood was the first Chairman of the Pakistan Business Council and currently serves as a Director on its Board.
